5th Grade Spanish
In the fall  they review the calendar, dates, weather.  This is ongoing.

They also review
body parts and clothing.

They also practice  expressing
time of day in Spanish with various games and discussions of schedules.
Students begin the year by reviewing and practicing vocabulary and structures learned in the previous years:

Greetings
Numbers
Colors
Classroom Vocabulary
Alphabet
Talking about self
Sometime after January, when 5th graders are studying the solar system in science class, we make a planet booklet in Spanish and students work in pairs to research and report in detail (in Spanish) on one planet.
Near the end of the year 5th graders  learn about famous people of Hispanic origin..  Each student chooses a person of renown from a Spanish-speaking country to research and report on in the form of a postage stamp and biographical paragraph.
We continually practice numbers by various math games in Spanish.
