Extra Credit/Enrichment

 

All Grades:

 

(1)  Students are given 5 extra credit points at the beginning of the second half of the course if they have their notes and folder from the first half. 

 

(2)  Students will be given extra credit for handing in a complete set of marking period notes at the end of the marking period.

 

(3) Each day one student may also volunteer to take notes in my copy of the class notebook, and sign his or her name for additional extra credit.

 

Additionally, students can...

 

(4) Make up any of the following for any lesson in the book

 

 

  1. Word search using vocabulary from lesson
  2. Worksheet
  3. Quiz
  4. Review game, project, or activity

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(5) Bring in the daily US Dollar exchange rate for

Euros (8th grade)

Mexican Pesos (7th grade)

Currency of any Latin American country, including South America, Central America, or the Caribbean (6th grade)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(6) Write a poem or article in Spanish for submission to Juventud Hispana.  Submit to mcahill@wbps.org

You must have parental permission on file to have your name published online.

 

(7) Bring in news articles as follows:  (Be prepared to analyze, critique, and discuss!)

 

8th grade – Articles about Spain or famous people from Spain, articles/editorials about Hispanic immigrants and/or world language learning.

 

7th grade – Articles about Mexico or famous Mexicans.

 

6th grade – Articles about any Latin American country, or immigration from Latin America.

 

(8)  Design a missing persons poster or brochure giving a description, where/when lost, and a reward in Mexican pesos or Euros with the US$ equivalent.

 

(9)  Design a web page for your grade level, summarizing (notes) or illustrating something we learned in class.  Place it in my drop folder on “Alfred”.  If you include pictures of any sort, be sure to drop the picture itself into “Alfred” as well.

 

(10)  Design a poster for laminating to be hung up in the classroom, illustrating or explaining something we did in class.  Examples are the verbs (actions), the ser/estar pictures, anything that NEATLY presents/illustrates a vocabulary list.

 

(11)  Write a new verse (in Spanish) to the song "La Cucaracha".

 

(12)  Write some word problems in Spanish using higher numbers.

 

(13)  Research the history of the Spanish language, how it relates to the Roman Empire and other “romance” (Latin-based) languages.  Write a short report in English citing your sources, and type it up, or create a PowerPoint.  You can print it, email it, or drop it in my folder on the server.

 

ANY OTHER CREATIVE IDEAS ARE WELCOME.
